FUTEBOL THE BRAZILIAN WAY OF LIFE                               www.ofutebol.com

Hi futebolista,

Has he? Hasn't he? Has Robinho successfully undergone a secret medical at Real Madrid? It is looking increasingly likely that the 21-year-old will be unveiled as "the next galactico" before the new La Liga season gets underway. Spanish defences - be prepared.

On Sunday, Fluminense travel to Campinas to face this season's surprise package, Ponte Preta. If results go their way, the Rio side could displace Ponte at the top. This has the makings of an exciting contest.

Vasco and Palmeiras have both appointed new coaches this week and Emerson Leao got his Verdao reign off to the best possible start, as Palmeiras hammered Figueirense 4-1 on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see if the revival can continue when Atletico Mineiro visit the Palestra Italia, in Round 14 of the Brazilian Championship.

These are the current standings;

1 - Ponte Preta 26
2 - Internacional 25
3 - Corinthians 25
4 - Botafogo 24
5 - Santos 24

Denilson has been in the news this week and now looks set to join Cruzeiro, while Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing exciting wingback Daniel Alves.

And finally, Careca is coming to England. Garforth Town have announced that the Brazilian legend will don their now-famous yellow jersey later this month – incredible.

Enjoy your weekend, amigos.
